Who We Are:

We are a non profit, no kill K-9 rescue located in Boaz, Alabama. It all started one night when i returned home from work to find my wife sitting on the couch distraught due to a story on the news about a 10 year old dog named "Bull" who was destined for euthanasia if he wasn't adopted within a week. His owner was soon going to be deployed for Iraq and was desperate to find a good home for his best friend. His owner left the shelter in tears hoping "Bull" would find a good home soon. We talked about it and decided we would adopt him. When we called the next morning, we were caller 32. "Bull's" story got the ball rolling and we soon were making plans to build a shelter of our own for other "Bull's" in need. We built a 10,000 sq ft fence and it remained empty until May 17th when a call came into animal control to pick up seven puppies. I knew if these puppies were picked up, thier future would not be bright without us. These were our first rescues!

Many of you who know me, know that I have been a police officer for the past 18 years. As you can imagine, seeing the things we see on a day-to-day basis can cause you to become callous. I was once voted the "most cold-hearted" member of the family. In the past 4 months, these dogs have softened my heart and touched my soul. I have actually wondered if instead of me rescuing the dogs, that the dogs are rescuing me. ~Doug

Between the early morning feedings, and the emotional roller coaster that we have been on for the last 4 months, it sometimes gets really over-whelming. I begin to think about quitting, but then all i have to do is look into the eyes of the dogs that we have saved and I realize that it is all worth while. ~Wanda
